Chandigarh/Hoshiarpur, November 15: In a decisive move to combat the menace of stubble burning, a red alert has been issued across all districts of Punjab, signaling zero tolerance for any violation of the Supreme Court’s ban on stubble burning. Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla, appointed as the Police Nodal Officer to oversee anti-stubble burning measures, has emphasized strict legal action against violators.
Sensitizing Farmers and Stakeholders
DGP Shukla has instructed CPs/SSPs to engage with farmers, citizens, and various stakeholders to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of stubble burning and its legal implications. He has also directed DSPs and SHOs to actively interact with sarpanches and farmer leaders to drive home the message of environmental responsibility and the adverse health impacts of stubble burning.
Special Appeal to Farmers
Special DGP Shukla has appealed to farmers to refrain from burning stubble, highlighting the environmental damage and health hazards it poses, particularly for children. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in this crucial endeavor to protect public health and the environment.
Strengthened Patrolling and Surveillance
Additional patrolling parties have been deployed in required numbers across police stations and their jurisdictions, complemented by continuous monitoring by the flying squad to deter stubble burning activities. Special DGP Shukla reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against those who disregard the ban.
Security Arrangements for November 18 Rally
Special DGP Arpit Shukla, accompanied by SSP Hoshiarpur Sartaj Singh Chahal, visited the venue of the upcoming November 18 rally to assess and ensure comprehensive security arrangements.
