Sudhir Sharma Removed, Rajinder Rana Resigned Amid Congress Party Discontent

The Congress High Command has initiated disciplinary action against dissidents who engaged in cross-voting during the Rajya Sabha elections, leading to the removal of Sudhir Sharma from his position as Secretary of the All India Congress Committee. In a related move, Rajinder Rana, who lost his assembly membership due to defection, tendered his resignation from the post of Executive President of the Pradesh Congress Committee. Both actions were confirmed by orders issued by K.C. Venugopal, the National General Secretary of Congress, on Wednesday. Additionally, Rana submitted his resignation to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, copies of which were forwarded to the National General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, State In-Charge Rajeev Shukla, and Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh. Reacting to his removal as Secretary, Sudhir Sharma shared a post on social media, expressing ironic sentiments, stating that while he was relieved of the burden, it felt as though all the weight was on his shoulders alone. He indicated strategic planning for his political future, emphasizing that enduring injustice is as much of a crime as committing it. Furthermore, Sharma posted a verse from the Bhagavad Gita, underscoring the duty to fight against injustice. He also paid homage to his late father, Pandit Sant Ram, affirming his commitment to public welfare inherited from him. The Congress party faced turmoil after six of its legislators engaged in cross-voting during the Rajya Sabha elections, resulting in the defeat of the Congress candidate and political upheaval for the government. However, timely intervention by the High Command, dispatching observers and effectively managing the situation, helped stabilize the crisis to some extent. Based on the reports of the observers and the behavior of the dissidents, the High Command has commenced disciplinary action against them.
