Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Prime Minister and urged to release a special relief package parallel to Bhuj and Kedarnath tragedies

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had a significant meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu as part of the G-20 Summit at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on Saturday. During this meeting, the Chief Minister discussed the urgent need for substantial assistance from the Union government to aid Himachal Pradesh in its recovery efforts.
Chief Minister Sukhu made a compelling case for the release of a special relief package to address the aftermath of the recent natural disasters, drawing parallels to the support provided during the Bhuj and Kedarnath tragedies. He emphasized the severity of the damages incurred during the monsoon, appealing to the Prime Minister to declare it a ‘National Disaster.’ He highlighted that more than 400 lives were lost, and over 13,000 houses were damaged, leaving thousands of families homeless. The cumulative losses to the state due to this disaster exceeded Rs. 12,000 crore.
CM said that The Prime Minister attentively listened to Himachal’s concerns and assured him that these demands would be given due consideration and sympathy.
Additionally, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu attended a dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of the G-20 Summit at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on Saturday. The event saw the participation of several prominent dignitaries, including US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as representatives from various international organizations and dignitaries from 19 invited countries. Union cabinet ministers and chief ministers from different Indian states also graced the occasion
