Supreme Court Questions Size of Patanjali’s Apology in Misleading Ads Case
The Supreme Court today scrutinized Patanjali Ayurved’s apology for running misleading advertisements. The court questioned whether the apology, published in newspapers, was as prominent as the company’s usual full-page product ads.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Ramdev and Balkrishna, informed the court that apologies had been published in 67 newspapers. However, Justice Hima Kohli pressed for details, asking if the apology was published with “same font and size as your earlier advertisements?”
Rohatgi emphasized the cost of the apology placements, stating they amounted to ₹10 lakh. The court, however, remained unimpressed, responding, “We are not bothered” about the cost.
