Teej Festival: Our Cultural Heritage to Preserve – Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, Shri Nayab Singh Saini, emphasized that Teej festival is a vital part of our cultural heritage and it is our responsibility to preserve it. He stated that Teej is a celebration for women, who observe it with great pride and joy. This festival is deeply connected with our culture.

Today, the Haryana Chief Minister addressed a program organized on the occasion of Teej festival at his residence, Sant Kabir Kutir. The event was attended by Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Punjab Governor and Administrator Shri Gulabchand Kataria, along with his wife Mrs. Anita Kataria, Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, and his wife Mrs. Suman Saini, who appreciated the Haryanvi exhibition on display. The Department of Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture showcased a short film on Teej festival, and women enjoyed the celebration.

The Chief Minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of planting a tree in the name of mothers during the monsoon season to combat air pollution. He urged all citizens to join this campaign and plant as many trees as possible during their household celebrations and sacred festivals.

He also mentioned that with the advent of this festival, the series of celebrations in the country begins, hence the saying, “Teej has arrived, sowing the seeds of festivals.” The Teej festival fosters mutual love and harmony in our society, and we should celebrate it enthusiastically to instill good values in future generations. The festival also rejuvenates nature, and women swing on the trees with great enthusiasm. The Haryana government is committed to promoting this celebration.

Mrs. Suman Saini, the Chief Minister’s wife, acknowledged the various schemes and programs implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower women. The Chief Minister is continuing this tradition. During the Teej festival, the Chief Minister presented the women with traditional gifts known as Kothli-Sindhara.

The event featured beautiful and magnificent cultural programs, including Haryanvi songs and performances such as “Laage Sai Pyara Sawan Ka Nazara,” “Sacchi Kahoon Maine Jaan Se Bhi Pyara,” and many more. Women participated in large numbers, dancing joyfully.

The Haryanvi exhibition included traditional items such as milk churners, colorful bangles, mehndi, hand grinders, pestle and mortar, and ancient pottery found in Rakhi Garhi. Women also enjoyed swings and delicious dishes.

The festival was attended by Haryana Assembly Speaker Shri Gyanchand Gupta and his wife Mrs. Bimla Gupta, Education Minister Mrs. Seema Trikha, former MP Mrs. Sunita Duggal, Mrs. Banto Kataria, BJP State President Shri Mohan Lal Badoli’s wife Mrs. Geeta Kaushik, Chief Minister’s Additional Principal Secretary Mrs. Ashima Barad, Director General of the Department of Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture Shri Mandeep Singh Barad, Additional Director of the Department Mrs. Varsha Khangwal, former Minister Mrs. Kavita Jain, former MLA Mrs. Latika Sharma, BJP State President Women’s Wing Mrs. Usha Priyadarshini, Mrs. Babita Phogat, Mrs. Saroj Sihag, Mrs. Sumitra Chauhan, Mrs. Rosie Malik, and Mrs. Sushma Gupta, among many other women.
