In a significant stride towards the commissioning of the 2400 MW Tehri Power Complex, THDC India Limited, a leading Power Sector PSU, marked a crucial advancement as the Butterfly Valve (BFV) of the first unit (U#5, 250 MW) in the 1000 MW Tehri PSP was successfully lowered onto its foundation on January 4, 2024.

This milestone represents a noteworthy achievement for India’s largest hydro power complex, with the 1000 MW Tehri HPP and 400 MW Koteshwar HEP already operating successfully. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, commended the dedicated efforts of the Tehri PSP team, extending congratulations for their sincere and concerted contributions leading to this success.

The successful placement of the BFV not only reinforces the project’s progress but also sets the stage for the next phases of development. Sh. Vishnoi emphasized that this achievement brings THDC a step closer to commissioning Tehri PSP, playing a pivotal role in the Indian government’s vision to integrate over 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and achieve net zero carbon emissions.

Upon commissioning, the Tehri Power Complex, with a total capacity of 2400 MW, is poised to become India’s largest, contributing significantly to the nation’s ambitious goal of ensuring 24*7 affordable power supply and fueling the growth engine of the nation.

The Tehri Pumped Storage Project reflects THDC India Limited’s dedication to sustainable and environmentally conscious energy solutions, aligning with the broader national objective of mitigating carbon footprints.

This accomplishment highlights THDC India Limited’s commitment to pioneering advancements in the energy sector, bringing the nation closer to a landmark Variable Speed Pumped Storage Project.
