After being granted bail by the Supreme Court in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was released from Tihar Jail on Wednesday. Supporters gathered outside the jail premises in large numbers to welcome Singh upon his release.

Addressing his supporters outside the jail, Singh stated, “This is not a time for celebration, but a time for struggle. Our party’s top leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendra Jain, are still in jail. We are confident that the locks of this jail will break, and Arvind Kejriwal will be released.” Singh’s release comes a day after the Supreme Court granted him bail, providing some relief to the AAP during the ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign.

Singh’s arrest was linked to the alleged money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scandal. Prior to his bail, the Enforcement Directorate had stated that Singh would not pose any threat if granted bail. The release of the Rajya Sabha member has offered the AAP some respite during the campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Delhi High Court’s decision to grant bail to Sanjay Singh has brought a glimmer of hope to the AAP, which has been facing challenges due to the incarceration of its key leaders.
