In a groundbreaking move, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann took a swipe at previous administrations, accusing the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress governments of neglecting government institutions. Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences,’ Mann emphasized his commitment to revamping state facilities, ensuring accessible government services for all Punjab citizens.

Mann criticized the privatization push by past governments, highlighting their disregard for public health and education infrastructure. Alleging a conspiracy to favor profit-driven private institutions, he pointed out the exorbitant costs of cancer treatment in private hospitals, leaving many unable to afford essential healthcare.

Underscoring his government’s strides in enhancing public institutions, Mann announced the establishment of 45 maternity and child care centers, with 664 Aam Aadmi Clinics providing free treatment. The Punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to quality healthcare.

The Chief Minister celebrated a positive trend of reverse migration, attributing it to his administration providing over 40,000 government jobs, a historic record in Punjab. He also highlighted efforts to attract investments, with over Rs 70,000 crore invested in two years, promising employment for three lakh youths.

Mann outlined significant initiatives in education, with 117 ‘Schools of Eminence’ offering world-class education and promoting inclusivity for economically weaker sections. He emphasized a transformation in Punjab’s atmosphere, with optimism prevailing over pessimism.

In response to opposition criticism, Mann challenged Akali and Congress leaders to a Punjabi language proficiency test, accusing them of being “shoddy politicians.” He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) prioritizes merit in public service over nepotism.

The Chief Minister blamed the Central government for bias against non-BJP state governments, accusing it of withholding Punjab’s funds. Dr. Balbir Singh, Health and Family Welfare Minister, and Anmol Gagan Mann, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister, were present at the event.
