The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has attached four properties in Ludhiana of former Deputy Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department of Punjab Rakesh Kumar Singla and his wife Rachna Singla. During the investigation, Vigilance found that Rakesh Kumar Singla owned one plot (298/66 square yards) in Abadi Guru Amardas Nagar Ludhiana, two plots of 150-150 square yards each in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar Ludhiana, one house in Rajguru Nagar Ludhiana. . 164-A (area 300 square yards) and one flat (area 193.60 square yards) no. 304, Category-A, 2nd Floor, R.C.S. Five properties were purchased by the Punjab Co-operative Society, Gazetted Officer, Sector 48-A, Chandigarh. All these five properties were purchased by him in the name of his wife Rachna Singla during the period from 01-04-2011 to 31-07-2022. Out of these, four properties located in Ludhiana have been seized.
Against both Rakesh Kumar Singla and his wife Rachna Singla in this regard Section 13(1) (b), 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and I.P.C. Under section 120-B of FIR no. 8. On 19.04.2023, a separate criminal case has been registered in Thana Vigilance Bureau, Ludhiana regarding making property beyond income. He further said that both the husband and wife are fugitives in this case.
He said that during the investigation period from 01-04-2011 to 31-07-2022, the income of Rakesh Kumar Singla and his wife Rachna Singla was Rs.2,59,68,952, while their expenditure was Rs.4,43,87,182. , which is 70.92 percent (Rs. 1,84,18,230) more than the sources of their income.

The spokesperson said that during the investigation of this case, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has also identified six more properties purchased by Rakesh Singla in the name of his wife Rachna Singla and son Swaraj Singla. He further informed that the process of confiscating the remaining seven properties will be started soon after the legal proceedings.
