Two-story house and shop gutted in fire in Churah subdivision of Chamba district, crores of rupees worth of damage

Chamba, April 12: A two-story house and a shop were gutted in a fire in Rundal village, Churah subdivision of Chamba district on Friday morning. The fire caused crores of rupees worth of damage.

According to information, preparations were underway for a wedding ceremony at the house on Friday. Suddenly, a cylinder kept in the house exploded. This caused a fire. Panic broke out after the fire broke out. In no time, the flames engulfed the entire house and a cloud of smoke spread throughout the area. The people present at the wedding ceremony and the villagers tried their best to extinguish the fire. During this time, another cylinder exploded, due to which the fire spread rapidly to the other rooms.

The affected Prashotam son Kadara, resident of village Rundal, Dakghar Shanteva Chhili, Tehsil Churah informed the Fire Department about the incident. After getting the information, a team of the Fire Department along with SDM Churah also reached the spot. The jawans of the fire brigade team, who reached the spot, along with the villagers, started the work of extinguishing the fire. By the time the fire was brought under control by the villagers and the fire brigade, the house was completely burnt to ashes. About 20 rooms were gutted in the fire. The materials collected for the wedding ceremony were also burnt in this incident.

SDM Churah Shashipal Sharma said that on getting information about the fire in Rundal village, he went to the spot and took stock of the situation. The fire brigade team was also present at the spot. The fire was extinguished after a lot of hard work, but the affected family has suffered a lot of damage. The administration will assess the damage and provide all possible help to the affected family.
