Jalandhar, Punjab: A mysterious “blast” occurred outside the residence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar district, Punjab, causing panic in the area. Police and forensic teams have arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manpreet Singh stated that forensic teams are collecting samples from the site. The incident took place around 1 a.m. outside Kalia’s residence near Shastri Market in Jalandhar. According to police, a loud sound was heard, but no one was injured in the incident.
“The forensic team is investigating the matter,” DCP Manpreet Singh told PTI. Police are also examining CCTV footage to trace the accused.
Manoranjan Kalia is a former Cabinet minister of Punjab and a former president of the Punjab BJP.
In the past four to five months, there have been several incidents of explosions targeting police posts in Amritsar and Gurdaspur. Last month, a blast occurred outside a temple in Amritsar, raising concerns in the region. Security agencies have been alerted, and the matter is being investigated seriously.
Investigating agencies are working to determine the causes behind this incident, and local residents have been urged to maintain peace.
