CM Sukhu Virtually Addresses ‘Samriddh Himachal 2045’, Lays Out Long-Term Development Roadmap

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reiterated his government’s commitment to transforming the state into a self-reliant, green energy powerhouse while virtually addressing the three-day ‘Samriddh Himachal 2045’ event. Organized at the Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), the event serves as a strategic brainstorming session to shape the next 20 years of sustainable economic growth in the state.

The primary objective of the conference is to develop a forward-looking roadmap for Himachal Pradesh by integrating expert insights, policy-driven discussions, and innovative strategies. Addressing the session from New Delhi, CM Sukhu emphasized that achieving long-term economic sustainability requires a balanced approach to green energy adoption, rural economic empowerment, and infrastructural advancements.

Commitment to a Self-Sustained Himachal Pradesh

CM Sukhu highlighted that the state budget for 2025-26 has been carefully planned with a special focus on strengthening the rural economy, expanding the energy sector, boosting tourism, and improving education and healthcare infrastructure. The government has already initiated key policy reforms to achieve self-reliance, particularly in sectors that hold significant economic potential for the state.

One of the core areas of focus is hydropower development, where the state government has taken proactive steps to ensure that Himachal Pradesh secures higher royalties from power projects. Additionally, the government is actively promoting natural farming, dairy development, and sustainable agricultural practices to strengthen the rural economy. These initiatives are all part of the larger ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ framework, which aims at transforming Himachal Pradesh into a self-sustained and self-reliant state.

Global Expertise for Himachal’s Development

Internationally renowned development thinker and entrepreneur, Sam Pitroda, joined the session virtually from the United States. Recognized for his contributions to technology-driven policy transformations, Pitroda commended the Himachal government’s vision and expressed his keen interest in collaborating with the state to drive sustainable economic growth. He offered valuable insights into holistic development strategies, which could play a crucial role in shaping Himachal’s long-term transformation.

Policy Leadership and Administrative Strategy

The conference saw active participation from Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, along with subject experts, departmental secretaries, and senior state government officials. The discussions revolved around policy-driven economic growth, green energy adoption, rural development, and infrastructure advancements.

Over the past two years, the Himachal Pradesh government has launched multiple initiatives aimed at ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth, reinforcing its position as a leader in renewable energy, eco-tourism, and agribusiness innovation.

CM Sukhu’s vision for Samriddh Himachal 2045 is rooted in a holistic governance approach, integrating technological advancements, environmental conservation, and economic diversification to position the state as a model of sustainability and self-reliance in India.
