In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Punjab Government has issued fresh transfer and posting orders for three senior IAS officers, reshaping key departments with immediate effect.
Shri Kamal Kishore Yadav, IAS (2003), who was awaiting a new posting, has been appointed as the Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce. In addition to this crucial portfolio, he has also been entrusted with the charge of Administrative Secretary, Investment Promotion, and Administrative Secretary, Promotion of Information Technology Industry, relieving Shri Tejveer Singh, IAS of these additional responsibilities. This move places Yadav at the helm of departments that are central to Punjab’s industrial revival and digital economy strategy.
The appointment of KK Yadav is seen as a strategic decision by the Punjab Government, given his administrative experience and the state’s focus on boosting industrial investment, simplifying business procedures, and attracting tech-driven enterprises to the region.
D.K. Tiwari Transferred to Parliamentary Affairs
Shri D.K. Tiwari, IAS (1994), who was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary, Transport, has now been transferred and appointed as Additional Chief Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs, replacing Shri Dilraj Singh, IAS. Varun Roojam Takes Over Transport Portfolio
Shri Varun Roojam, IAS (2004), who has been serving as Excise Commissioner, Punjab, and Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, will now also hold the charge of Administrative Secretary, Transport, replacing D.K. Tiwari. Roojam will continue with his current roles in Excise and Taxation, thereby overseeing three key revenue-generating departments. His expanded role indicates the government’s trust in his capability to handle high-stakes assignments amid the ongoing focus on revenue reforms.
Dilraj Singh to Retain Key Health Portfolios
Shri Dilraj Singh, IAS (2005), who previously held the Parliamentary Affairs charge, will now continue in his existing capacity as Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, and will also retain additional charge of Commissioner, Food & Drug Administration and Commissioner, Gurdwara Elections, Punjab. Singh’s continuation in the health sector comes at a time when public health infrastructure and pharmaceutical regulation remain high on the government’s priority list.
Strategic Realignments to Boost Governance
This reshuffle reflects the Punjab Government’s push towards streamlining governance, enhancing administrative accountability, and aligning top bureaucratic positions with departments critical to economic revival, public welfare, and infrastructure development.
By repositioning experienced officers like KK Yadav, D.K. Tiwari, and Varun Roojam into vital departments, the state leadership appears to be preparing for more responsive governance, ahead of both policy rollouts and upcoming political developments.
