Chandigarh, August 8 – Marking the auspicious occasion of Goswami Tulsidas Jayanti, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hosted a grand state-level celebration at his official residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, that underscored the state’s cultural commitment and focus on social inclusion. The event drew a large number of attendees from across the state, including key representatives of the Goswami community and notable dignitaries.

In a landmark move responding to a longstanding demand from the Goswami community, the Chief Minister announced that the Haryana government would formally recommend to the Centre that the ‘Gosain’ community be included in the Central OBC list. This move, he stated, would help ensure social justice and equitable development through access to education, employment, and welfare opportunities under OBC reservation policies.

Reaffirming his government’s cultural vision, CM Saini declared that a prominent public square in the state, as well as a major library in Hisar, would be named in honour of Goswami Tulsidas. He also announced a personal contribution of ₹31 lakh from his discretionary fund toward the construction of a community dharamshala by the Goswami Samaj Sabha in Kurukshetra.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister spoke passionately about the enduring legacy of Goswami Tulsidas, describing him as not merely a poet-saint, but a spiritual visionary whose work—particularly the Ramcharitmanas—uplifted a society mired in darkness and despair. He described the Jayanti celebration as a tribute to India’s cultural richness, moral strength, and deep-rooted sense of community harmony.

He further acknowledged the inclusive governance model led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praising the constitutional recognition of the OBC Commission and the extension of reservations in educational institutions such as medical colleges, military schools, and central schools. Haryana, he added, has strengthened backward class empowerment through increased income thresholds for creamy layer categorization and extended educational and political reservations, including in urban and rural local bodies.

In a powerful political message, the Chief Minister criticized the legacy of previous governments, accusing them of prioritizing dynastic interests while neglecting the needs of ordinary citizens. He drew a stark contrast between colonial exploitation and decades of post-independence political neglect, asserting that PM Modi’s leadership is now correcting those historical wrongs.

The ceremony also honored meritorious students from the Goswami community who excelled in their board examinations. CM Saini encouraged the community to unite, guide its youth with purpose, and actively contribute to building a progressive and responsible nation.
