Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has assured that the state government will ensure smooth, hassle-free, and timely procurement of paddy this year, just like in previous years. Reviewing the ongoing paddy procurement process, Mann emphasized that every grain produced by Punjabi farmers will be purchased, and strict action will be taken against officials if farmers face any inconvenience.
The Chief Minister highlighted that paddy procurement started on September 15, with elaborate arrangements made for purchasing 175 lakh metric tonnes of grains. To facilitate smooth procurement, 1,822 regular purchase centers have been notified by the Punjab Mandi Board for the 2025-26 Kharif season. Mann urged farmers to dry their crops properly before bringing them to the mandis to avoid unnecessary delays.
Mann will personally monitor the procurement process to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties. The state government has taken initiatives to make the procurement process transparent and efficient. Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat also reiterated the government’s commitment to purchasing every single grain of paddy, initiating procurement at Dana Mandi in Jalandhar.
The government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy at ₹2,389 per quintal and secured a Cash Credit Limit (CCL) of ₹15,000 crore for September and ₹27,000 crore for October. With these arrangements in place, the Punjab government aims to complete the procurement process without any inconvenience to farmers.
