Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a scathing critique of the opposition Akali Dal, led by Sukhbir Singh Badal, highlighting the party’s alleged mismanagement during its long tenure and its continued attempts to mislead the public. Speaking to the media, CM Mann pointed out that while the President of Akali Dal is now claiming that concrete walls will be built around rivers to prevent flooding, the people of Punjab are well aware that during the party’s long rule, they could not even construct proper streets and basic infrastructure in many villages.
CM Mann accused the Akali leadership of misusing public funds, alleging that money earned through improper means is being distributed strategically in villages, often rotating the same funds to create the illusion of welfare measures. “People in Punjab are no longer deceived by such tactics,” he said, emphasizing that **the opposition has consistently failed to address both developmental and disaster management challenges**, including adequate preparedness for floods in vulnerable areas.
He also drew attention to neglected areas during Akali Dal’s tenure, including Kotakpura and Behbal Kalan, where incidents of sacrilege and violence took place. According to Mann, while the Akali leadership boasts about state development under their regime, they conveniently ignore regions that suffered severe human and social loss. This criticism underscores the CM’s stance that **current governance is focused on tangible results and citizen welfare, rather than political posturing.
