Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday paid floral tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to preserving the legacy of the legendary freedom fighter by announcing that the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Heritage Complex at his native village will soon be dedicated to the state. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated a 100-feet tall national tri-color flag at the museum complex, calling it a symbol of pride and reverence. The 30 by 20 feet national flag, part of the larger heritage project, has been installed to honor the indomitable spirit of Bhagat Singh and inspire visitors. The Chief Minister said that the construction of the complex, with an estimated cost of Rs 51.70 crore, is progressing rapidly and will soon be completed as a humble tribute to the great martyr.
Remembering Bhagat Singh’s unparalleled sacrifice, Mann emphasized that he laid down his life to free India from the chains of imperialism and his ideals continue to inspire the nation. He added that the upcoming heritage complex will not just be a structure but an immersive experience for every visitor. It will showcase the life journey of Bhagat Singh, highlighting his intellectual brilliance, courage, and supreme sacrifice for the motherland. The monument is being designed to create an atmosphere that narrates the story of India’s freedom struggle through sculptures, artistic depictions, and visual recreations.
Mann further shared that the project will include a grand thematic gate and a 350-meter-long heritage street connecting the museum to Bhagat Singh’s ancestral home, reflecting the colonial-era India and the revolutionary’s role in its liberation. The street will feature 2D and 3D wall art, sculptures, and mannequins that capture key moments of the freedom movement. A fully air-conditioned 700-seat auditorium is also part of the plan to host cultural and educational programs. Adding to the emotional connect, a model of Bhagat Singh’s ancestral home in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan) is being built, along with a recreated version of his ancestral village, bringing history alive for future generations.
The Chief Minister said this ambitious project is more than a monument; it is an effort to preserve and promote the immortal legacy of one of India’s greatest sons. He underlined that the complex will inspire countless young Indians to dedicate themselves selflessly to the nation’s service, ensuring that the flame of patriotism ignited by Shaheed Bhagat Singh continues to shine brightly for generations to come.
