ED Expands Probe Into Suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar Bribery Case, Seizes Records of IAS and IPS Officers

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its investigation into the high-profile bribery and benami property case linked to suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. On Tuesday, ED officials seized crucial records related to several IAS and IPS officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Chandigarh.

According to sources, nearly **50 senior officials** from Punjab have come under the scanner for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets and investing in benami properties. Several of these officers are currently serving in key administrative and police positions across the state.

Investigators revealed that the suspended DIG allegedly colluded with a middleman named **Krishnu Sharda**, who played a pivotal role in facilitating corrupt deals between Bhullar and senior bureaucrats. CBI officials have recovered significant electronic evidence — including mobile data and digital records — from Sharda’s devices, pointing to multiple financial transactions involving top officials.

The case took a serious turn after Bhullar, already suspended by the Punjab government, was **remanded to judicial custody** by a CBI special court last week. During interrogation, Bhullar reportedly disclosed that several Punjab officers had been investing in real estate through **a Patiala-based property dealer, Bhupinder Singh**, to conceal their illicit gains.

Sources said the ED is now examining money trails, property documents, and digital evidence to trace the network of officers who allegedly benefitted from Bhullar’s influence. The agency may soon summon several serving bureaucrats for questioning.

This development marks a major escalation in the ongoing anti-corruption drive in Punjab’s administrative and police hierarchy, raising serious questions about the extent of bureaucratic corruption in the state.
