Sangrur Leads Punjab in Paddy Procurement, While Patiala Tops in Lifting – Punjab Government Ensures Smooth Procurement Season


Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of farmers by ensuring a seamless and transparent paddy procurement season. The state’s efficient system has enabled the smooth inflow, purchase, and lifting of paddy across mandis, protecting the interests of farmers, commission agents, and labourers alike.

According to official figures available up to November 11, Sangrur district has emerged as the **top performer in both paddy arrival and procurement**, while **Patiala has taken the lead in lifting** operations.

Overview of Paddy Procurement in Punjab (as of November 11):

* Total Paddy Arrival: 1,53,76,697.06 lakh metric tonnes (LMT)
* Total Paddy Procurement: 1,52,69,488.62 lakh metric tonnes (over 99%)
* Total Paddy Lifting: 1,38,54,981.49 metric tonnes (over 90%)

These figures highlight the Punjab Government’s success in creating a robust system that ensures the timely movement of produce, prompt payments to farmers, and efficient lifting of procured paddy from mandis.



District-wise Performance:

1. **Sangrur – The front-runner in both arrival and procurement**

* Paddy Arrival: 13,30,792.77 metric tonnes
* Paddy Procurement: 13,28,302.88 metric tonnes
  Sangrur achieved an almost 100% procurement rate, reflecting strong on-ground coordination and transparency in the entire process.

2. **Bathinda – A consistent performer securing second place**

* Paddy Arrival: 13,03,454.28 metric tonnes
* Paddy Procurement: 12,53,400.20 metric tonnes
  Bathinda maintained its position as one of the most efficient districts, ensuring smooth procurement through close coordination among all stakeholders.

3. **Patiala – Third in procurement, but first in lifting**

* Paddy Arrival: 11,20,786.79 metric tonnes
* Paddy Procurement: 11,20,772.77 metric tonnes
* Paddy Lifting: 10,87,806.56 metric tonnes
  While Patiala ranks third in procurement, it leads the state in lifting efficiency, ensuring rapid transportation of paddy stocks.


Top Three Districts in Lifting:

1. Patiala – 10,87,806.56 metric tonnes (1st)
2. Sangrur – 10,83,766.01 metric tonnes (2nd)
3. Bathinda – 10,70,364.39 metric tonnes (3rd)

The close competition among these districts shows the high level of efficiency and coordination achieved during this procurement season.
